M.A._Economics_(with_specialisation_in_the_World_Economy)

Course_Structure 
The_M.A._in_Economics_(with_specialization_in_the_World_Economy)_is_a_full-time_programme_of_study_spanning_two_years._Each_year_is_divided_into_two_semesters_–_the_monsoon_semester_and_the_winter_semester.

On_the_whole_the_student_has_to_study_nine_core_and_seven_optional_courses,_each_carrying_a_credit_of_4_points.

M.Phil_(discontinued_w.e.f_2021-22)

 

The_MPhil_credit_break-up_between_course-work_and_thesis/_dissertation_will_be_16_credits_(for_coursework)_+_8_credits_(for_thesis/_dissertation)_=_24_credits_(total)._The_core_or_compulsory_courses_for_MPhil_will_be_International_Economics_(4_credits)_and_Research_Seminar_(4_credits),_while_2_other_courses_of_4_credits_each_will_be_optional._Upon_successful_completion_of_course_work,_the_MPhil_students_will_proceed_to_write_their_dissertation_in_the_second_year_(3rd_and_4th_semesters).

 

Ph.D

The_PhD_coursework_will_have_DI1653,_IS600P_and_Research_Seminar_as_a_core_course._In_addition_to_the_core_courses,_the_students_will_have_to_take_optional_courses_to_fulfil_their_minimum_course_requirement_of_18_credits._These_optional_courses_will_have_to_be_decided_in_consultation_with_her/_his_supervisor._Upon_successful_completion_of_the_course_work,_spread_over_two_semesters,_the_PhD_students_will_proceed_to_prepare_their_PhD_synopsis.
