Admission_to_the_M.Phil_Programme_and_Ph.D_Programme_are_by_an_annual_entrance_examination_and_viva_voce._The_main_objective_of_the_programme_is_to_prepare_candidates_for_inter-disciplinary_research_on_Europe._The_M.Phil_and_Ph.D_research_programmes_in_the_Centre_are_of_high-quality,_both_in_academic_rigor_and_relevance._Since_the_research_in_the_Centre_is_interdisciplinary_in_nature,_efforts_are_made_to_expose_students_to_other_social_science_subjects_which_go_beyond_their_parent_disciplines._Learning_of_at_least_one_European_language_(apart_from_English)_is_a_critical_component_of_the_research_programme_of_the_Centre._In_the_newly_emerging_globalizing_international_environment,_the_emphasis_is_given_to_broad_social_science_concepts_along_with_specific_European_issues._Apart_from_empirical_research_on_Europe,_students_are_also_encouraged_to_develop_skills_in_broader_theoretical_research_and_analysis._While_selecting_research_themes_on_Europe,_students_can_focus_from_country_specific_study_and_issues_themes_and_also_expand_their_research_with_the_broader_theoretical_concepts_in_their_lead_disciplines_as_well_as_in_the_international_relations_theory.
