 On_20_January_2006,_the_Prime_Minister_of_The_Netherlands,_H.E._Dr._Mr._Jan_Peter_Balkenende_visited_JNU_as_part_of_his_state_visit_to_India_and_delivered_a_lecture_on The_European_Union_and_India:_Unity_in_Diversity._On_this_occasion_he_also_announced_a_gift_of_EURO_50,000_to_the_Centre_for_European_Studies_to_set_up_a_library_and_state_of_the_art_lecture_cum_seminar_room._Named_after_the_famous_Dutch_painter_Rembrandt_van_Rijn_(1606-1669),_the Rembrandt Room houses_the_library_called_the Erasmus Collection._The_Erasmus_collection_is_named_after_Desiderius_Erasmus_(1466_or_1469_-_1536),_a_Dutch_Renaissance_humanist._With_over_500_books_on_the_shelves,_the_students_and_faculty_of_the_Centre_for_European_Studies_will_have_access_to_the_Erasmus_collection_which_focuses_on_Contemporary_Europe_and_issues_of_international_politics,_thereby_enhancing_both_the_teaching_and_research_quality.    The_Netherlands_Prime_Minister's_Grant_is_coordinated_by Professor_Ummu_Salma_Bava,_Professor_for_European_Studies_in_the_Centre_for_European_Studies_and_Associate_Fellow,_Asia_Society,_New_York.
