Spanish_&_Latin_American PROGRAMME_OF_STUDIES European_Commission MULTIELE Joint_Master_Degree_Programme Portuguese_and_Italian PROGRAMME_OF_STUDIES click_here » Ph.D. » M.Phil. » M.A. » B.A.(Hons) click_here SPANISH_AND_LATIN_AMERICAN_STUDIES Centre_of_Spanish,_Portuguese,_Italian_and_Latin_American_Studies is_innovative_with_regard_to_its_academic_structure._Keeping_the_spirit_of_the_interdisciplinary_character_of_the_University,_the_courses_are_structured_in_such_a_way_that_in_addition_to_the_prescribed_compulsory_courses_in_the_Spanish,_the_students_are_encouraged_to_opt_for_optional_courses_from_other_Centres/Schools_to_benefit_from_the_faculty_of_other_Centres/Schools._Unless_a_student_obtains_prescribed_grades_and_credits_in_courses,_he/she_will_not_be_qualified_for_award_of_degree. The_University_follows_semester_system._Each_course_is_for_the_duration_of_one_semester_and_it_is_assigned_a_specific_number_of_credits_corresponding_to_the_prescribed_number_of_contact_hours._The_number_of_credits_to_be_assigned_to_a_course_is_determined_by_Board_of_Studies_of_School_of_Language,_Literature_and_Culture_Studies. The_mainstream_programme_of_the_Centre_has_a_full_time_five_year_integrated_M.A._programme_in_Spanish._Students_have_the_option_of_a_B.A.(Honours)_degree_at_the_end_of_the_6th_semester_(3rd_year)._The_Centre_has_two_separate_research_programmes: » Doctoral_programme_of_study_in_Spanish/Hispanic_leading_to_the_award_of_Ph.D._degree, » Master_of_Philosophy_programme_of_study_leading_to_the_award_of_M.Phil._degree. Pedagogy: The_methodology_adopted_for_teaching_comprises_of_Lectures,_Exercises,_Tutorials,_Audio_Visual,_Language_Lab_Drills_and_Interpretational_Training,_Seminars_and_Workshops._Apart_from_regular_classroom_teaching;_seminars_and_lectures_by_visiting_faculty_and_scholars,_are_also_part_of_the_curriculum._In_addition,_research_scholars_make_presentations_on_their_subject/area_of_research._The_Centre_follows_a_continuous_evaluation_system_such_as_Sessional_Test,_Term_Paper_and_End_Semester_Exam. Doctoral_Programme_(Ph.D): The_Centre_of_Spanish,_Portuguese,_Italian_and_Latin_American_Studies_is_an_inter-disciplinary_centre._Scholars_with_M.Phil._degrees_in_Spanish_and_Latin_American_language_Literature,_Philosophy,_History,_Culture,_Sociology,_Linguistics;_or_those_with_relevant_Spanish_and_Latin_American_experience_are_eligible_to_apply._In_accordance_with_the_University_norms,_students_desiring_to_register_for_the_Ph.D._Programme_must_have_a_FGPA_of_6.00_on_10_point_scale_in_their_M.Phil._or_those_who_do_not_have_an_M._Phil._degree_should_have_at_least_2_years_of_research_experience_in_reputed_institutions_and_provide_evidence_of_equivalent_published_work_in_the_intended_areas_of_specialization._In_addition,_he/she_should_have_obtained_Master's_Degree_with_FGPA_of_6.00_in_the_10_point_scale/comparable_standard_or_equivalent_percentage. M.Phil._Programme: The_M.Phil._Programme_in_Spanish,_Latin_American_commences_in_the_Monsoon_Semester._Its_objectives_is_to_encourage_independent_research_in_the_Hispanic_field_and_course_design_and_teaching_plan_has_multi-disciplinary_orientation,_while_the_course_contents_and_reading_list_can_be_accessed_by_the_concerned_course_incharge. The_M.Phil._programme_is_a_two-year/four-semester_programme_of_study_from_which_students_may_move_on_to_the_doctoral_programme_provided_they_meet_the_minimum_grade_requirements_laid_down_by_the_University._A_number_of courses are_offered_at_the_M.Phil._level_and,_depending_on_his_or_her_field_of_specialization_a_student_can_choose_any_four_courses_each_of_which_carries_six_credits,_and_the_course_requirements_are_to_be_completed_in_the_first_two_semesters_of_the_programme._The_dissertation_carries_10_credits_and_is_to_be_completed_by_the_end_of_the_fourth_semester.
