p{ text-align:justify; line-height:_19px; font-size:14px; margin-bottom:_10px_!important; } JNU_is_the_first_University_in_the_country_to_create_a_Centre_of_French_and_Francophone_Studies._The_new_nomenclature_of_the_Centre_has_vital_academic,_national_and_international_implications._The_teaching_and_research_carried_out_in_the_French_Language_on_the_Francophone(French_speaking)_countries_would_benefit_the_scholars_of_the_Centre,_should_facilitiate_interdisciplinary_and_multidisciplinary_research_between_the_Centre_and_other_Centres_of_the_Schools_at_JNU_as_well_as_with_other_universities_and_institutions_both_in_India_and_abroad._In_this_way,_the_Francophone_Centre_would_eventually_become_a_rich_resource_and_documentation_centre_accessible_to_institutions_and_individuals.. In_a_highly_polarised_world_India_has_to_attach_great_importance_to_the_Francophone_movement_grouping_to-gether_some_46_countries_and_governments,_as_was_evident_at_the_VIlth_Francophone_Summit_held_in_November1997,_at_Hanoi_(Vietnam)._And_so,_the_research_carried_out_at_this_Centre_would_and_should_be_a_major_contribution_to_a_holistic,_deeper_and_more_authentic_understanding_of_the_cultural,_socio-economic_and_political_realtity_of_these_countries_not_easily_reflected_in_isolated_English_translations_and_in_a_limited_anglo-saxon_viewpoint. The_nomenclature_is_a_challenge_to_the_Centre_of_French_and_Francophone_Studies_to_live_up_to_these_lofty_expectations.
