The_Group_of_Adult_Education_(GAE)_is_one_of_the_six_special_UGC-supported_Programmes/Units_of_the_School_of_Social_Sciences_(SSS)._The_GAE_is_one_of_the_vibrant_research,_training,_information,_documentation_and_publishing_nodal_centres_on_literacy,_adult_education,_non-formal_education,_education_and_lifelong_learning,_development_education_and_continuing_education_across_the_country._By_linking_educational_research,_policy_and_practice_in_all_these_areas,_GAE_makes_a_special_contribution_in_enhancing_access_to_learning,_and_improving_the_environment_and_quality_of_learning_in_various_sub-disciplines_of_adult_education_and_lifelong_learning_for_all.

GAE_provides_academic,_research,_training_and_consultancy_services_in_literacy,_non-formal_education,_adult_and_lifelong_learning,_sustainable_livelihoods_programme,_development_education,_consumer_education_and_awareness_to_various_stakeholders_including_citizens,_government_agencies,_and_NGOs._GAE_works_in_close_cooperation_with_the_National_Directorate_of_Adult_Education_and_Planning_Commission_(both_under_Union_Government_of_India)_and_with_its_sister_departments_in_the_University_of_Delhi_and_Jamia_Milia_and_Islamia.
