1._SMT._JASWANT_K._KHURANA_MERIT_AWARD

A_sum_of_Rs.5,00,000/-_was_donated_in_the_year_December_2004_by_Prof._Jai_Kishan_Khurana,_father_of_Prof._R._Madhubala,_School_of_Life_Sciences_as_an_endowment_for_instituting_the_“Smt._Jaswant_Kaur_Khurana_Merit_Award”._The_award_carries_a_cash_prize_of_Rs.15,000/-_(Rupees_Fifteen_Thousand_Only),_a_certificate,_and_a_gold_medal_out_of_the_interests_earned_on_the_endowment_created_for_the_purpose.

Selection_Criteria:
Smt._Jaswant_K._Khurana_Merit_Award_will_be_awarded_one_time_(annually)_to_the_student_obtaining_the_highest_CGPA_after_the_completion_of_M.Sc./Ph.D._theory_course_work.

A_sum_of_Rs._5,00,000/-_was_donated_in_the_year_July_2013_by_Prof._Neera_Bhalla_Sarin,_a_former_Professor_in_the_School_of_Life_Sciences,_JNU_as_an_endowment_to_institute_the_“Smt._Kailash_Hans_Bhalla_Memorial_Award_for_Plant_Sciences”._The_award_carries_a_cash_prize_of_Rs._10,000/-_(Rupees_Ten_Thousand_only),_and_a_certificate_along_with_a_Gold_Medal_out_of_the_interests_earned_on_the_endowment_created_for_the_purpose

Smt._Kailash_Hans_Bhalla_Memorial_Award_will_be_awarded_to_M.Sc._student(s)_who_who_has_secured_highest_grade_points_in_both_Plant_Physiology_(Semester-II)_and_Plant_Development_Biology_(Semseter-III)_courses._Award_will_be_given_after_the_completion_of_M.Sc._(Life_Sciences)_Semester-III.

3._PROF._GOURI_SHANKER_SINGHAL_MERIT_SCHOLARSHIP

A_sum_of_Rs._2,00,000/-_was_donated_in_the_year_September_2004_by_Prof._Sushila_Singhal,_wife_of_late_Prof._G.S._Singhal,_a_former_Professor_of_photobiology_in_the_School_of_Life_Sciences_as_an_endowment_for_instituting_the_“Prof._Gauri_Shankar_Singhal_Merit_Scholarship”._The_Scholarship_carries_a_sum_of_Rs.1000/-_per_month_(Rupees_One_Thousand_Only)_for_a_period_of_10_months_(two_Semesters,_excluding_vacation_period).

Selection_Criteria:
Prof._Gouri_Shanker_Singhal_Merit_Scholarship_Award_is_awarded_to_the_M.Sc._Semester-III_student_who_has_obtained_the_highest_CGPA_at_the_end_of_Semester-II,_for_a_period_of_10_months,_from_the_endowment_amount_of_the_accrued_interest,_subject_to_the_condition_that_he/she_is_not_in_receipt_of_any_other_scholarship/_fellowship_from_any_other_source. _

4._PROF._A._RAMESHA_RAO_SCHOLARSHIP_&_TRAVEL_GRANT

A_sum_of_Rs._10,00,000/-_was_donated_in_January,_2010_by_Prof._K._Sudha_Rao,_a_former_professor_in_National_University_of_Educational_Planning_and_Administration_as_an_endowment_to_institute_the_“Prof._A._Ramesha_Rao_Scholarship_&_Travel_Grant”_to_encourage_more_students_to_do_research_on_cancer_biology,_a_discipline_in_which_Professor_Rao_had_specialized_and_guided_students_during_his_tenure_as_a_professor_in_the_School_of_Life_Sciences,_JNU.

Selection_Criteria:
(a) _For_Scholarship:

Prof._A._Ramesha_Rao_Scholarship_will_be_awarded_to_an_M.Sc._2nd_Year_student_doing_research_work_in_Cancer_Biology_based_on_overall_performance_in_M.Sc._1st_year;_evaluation_of_his/her_research_proposal_of_M.Sc._dissertation._Preference_may_be_given_to_students_from_rural_backgrounds_and_weaker_sections,_subject_to_the_condition_that_he/she_is_not_in_receipt_of_any_other_scholarship/_fellowship_from_any_other_source.Award:
The_scholarship_will_carry_a_sum_of_Rs._3,000/-_per_month_(Rupees_Three_Thousand_Only)_for_a_period_of_10_months,_(two_Semesters,_excluding_vacation_period),_out_of_the_interest_accrued_on_“Prof._A._Ramesha_Rao_Endowment_Fund”.(b) _Travel_Grant:

Prof._A._Ramesha_Rao_Travel_Grant_for_01_student_pursuing_M.Phil./Ph.D_programme_for_presenting_paper_on_Cancer_Research_Work_in_overseas_symposium/conference_to_support_economy_air_travel_and/or_registration_fee_once_a_year._Preference_may_be_given_to_students_from_rural_backgrounds_and_weaker_sections._His_or_her_research_work_accepted_for_paper_presentation_(oral_–_1st_preference;_poster_–_2nd_preference)_in_overseas_symposium/conferences_organized_by_cancer_specific_societies/organizations/universities/institutes.Award:
The_Travel_Grant_will_carry_up_to_Rs.30,000/-_(Rupees_Thirty_Thousand_Only)_once_in_a_year_for_one_student_pursuing_M.Phil./Ph.D._programme_for_presenting_paper_on_Cancer_Research_Work_in_overseas_symposium/conference_to_support_economy_air_travel_and/or_registration_fee.

A_sum_of_Rs._8,00,000/-_was_donated_in_January,_2024_by_Prof._Chitrita_“Chobi”_DebRoy,_an_alumnus_of_School_of_Life_Sciences_and_Prof._Tarashankar,_as_an_endowment_to_institute_the_“Professor_Sipra_Guha-Mukherjee_Best_Ph.D._Thesis_Award”._The_annual_interest_earned_on_the_endowment_will_be_utilized_to_award_the_“Professor_Sipra_Guha-Mukherjee_Best_Ph.D._Thesis_Award_of_SLS,_JNU”_every_year._The_award_constitutes_a_cash_prize_of_Rs._50,000/-_and_a_certificate,_be_given_to_the_awardee.

Selection_Criteria:
Ph.D._students_of_SLS_whose_viva-voce_examination_has_been_successfully_completed_(degree_awarded)_on_or_before_December_31st_of_the_year.Students_having_first_author_research_publication(s)_from_the_Ph.D._thesis_in_peer-reviewed,_international_journal_of_repute_are_eligible_for_the_award.
