The_School_of_Biotechnology_(SBT)_was_founded_in_1985_as_the_first_human_resource_centre_of_Biotechnology_by_the_Department_of_Biotechnology,_Ministry_of_Science_and_Technology,_Government_of_India._The_school_offers_Masters_and_PhD_programs_in_Biotechnology_rooted_in_imparting_multidisciplinary_skills_which_allow_the_students_to_have_their_career_in_Biotechnology_and_develop_their_innovative_ideas_that_can_translate_into_bio-entrepreneurship._Various_elective_courses_floated_by_experienced_faculty_of_the_school_enables_the_students_to_choose_and_get_specialized_in_the_area_of_their_research_interest._The_school_is_equipped_with_faculty_members_having_graduated_from_reputed_academic_institutions_and_universities_of_our_country_and_abroad_with_diverse_and_inter-disciplinary_backgrounds_aligning_with_national_strategic_development_polices_and_their_demands._The_school’s_academic_and_research_programs_provide_basic_to_advanced_infrastructure_for_the_students_to_enhance_their_technical_and_innovation_skills._Faculty_members_receive_research_support_from_different_funding_agencies,_including_DBT,_DST,_ICMR,_CSIR,_and_DRDO_etc._and_some_of_them_have_been_able_to_spin-off_bio-business_incubated_at_JNU._The_school_has_been_awarded_UGC-SAP,_DST-FIST,_and_DBT-BUILDER_programs_in_participation_with_other_schools_of_the_university._Our_alumni_are_placed_in_academic/scientific_positions_in_many_reputed_national_and_international_universities/institutes_worldwide._Some_of_them_work_in_prominent_biotechnology_companies_and_some_have_started_their_own_companies._SBT's_mission_is_to_expand_its_reach_and_to_nurture_innovative_minds_through_education,_professional_development,_and_advancements_in_biotechnology_knowledge.
