CIPOD_collaborates_with_a_number_of_national_and_international_institutions_in_various_academic_activities._These_include,_institutional_collaboration_for_faculty_and_student_exchange,_workshops_and_conferences,_joint_research_projects_and_publications,_both_independently,_and_under_the_aegis_of_a_large_number_of_JNU’s_MOUs _(https://jnu.ac.in.sites/default/files/ic/MoUs.pdf)_with_other_universities/institutions_worldwide._Currently,_the_Centre_partners_actively_with_the_following_institutions:

Collaborative_Research_Projects_

    Nuclearization_of_South_Asia:_Implications_for_India’s_National_Security is_an_ICSSR_(Indian_Council_for_Social_Science_Research)_funded_project_run_by_Rajesh_Rajagopalan_and_Happymon_Jacob,_with_Yogesh_Joshi,_one_of_CIPOD_PhD_students,_as_the_project_assistant. _The_project_looks_at_the_last_quarter_century_since_the_nuclearization_of_South_Asia. _While_most_previous_works_on_the_nuclearization_looks_at_the_period_after_the_nuclear_tests_in_1998,_this_project_looks_at_the_period_since_the_late_1980s,_which_is_when_both_India_and_Pakistan_are_thought_to_have_gone_nuclear. _The_project_brings_together_some_of_the_best_analysts_and_scholars_from_around_the_world_to_examine_different_aspects_of_the_impact_on_India,_including_issues_such_as_the_evolution_of_doctrines,_strategies_and_forces,_civil-military_and_intra-service_relations,_and_impact_on_global_norms_and_bilateral_relations. _The_project_is_expected_to_conclude_in_early_2015.   Migration_Flows,_Labour_Market_Policies_and_Social_Friction (2011-2012)_is_a_part_of_a_larger_collaborative_research_programme_with_‘Transformation_and_Friction_in_Globalizing_India_funded_by_the_Norwegian_Research_Council._The_project_was_undertaken_in_collaboration_with_the_Faculty_of_Humanities,_Norwegian_University_of_Science_and_Technology,_with_Moushumi_Basu_(CIPOD)_and_Jonathon_Moses _(NTNU)_as_principal_investigators._The_Project_addresses_significant_changes_that_had_come_about_in_the_labour_market_following_liberalization. India’s_Regional_Relations_in_a_Transitioning_World:_Policies,_Priorities_and_Practices. Professor_Varun_Sahni_is_Project_Director_of_this_Sponsored_Research_Project_of_the_Indian_Council_of_Social_Science_Research_(ICSSR)_with_a_financial_outlay_of_Rs._400,000._The_Project_was_initiated_on_1_November_2013_and_will_run_till_31_October_2015._Dr_Krishnendra_Meena,_Assistant_Professor,_CIPOD_is_a_Co-Director_of_the_Project,_along_with_Dr_Atul_Mishra_(Assistant_Professor,_Central_University_of_Gujarat),_Dr_Devika_Sharma_(Assistant_Professor,_University_of_Delhi)_and_Dr_Jayashree_Vivekanandan_(Assistant_Professor,_South_Asian_University)._It_is_noteworthy_that_all_four_Co-Directors_earned_their_doctoral_degree_from_the_Centre._The_primary_objective_is_to_identify_domestic,_regional_and_global_contexts_as_well_as_major_themes_that_structure_India’s_regional_relations,_especially_with_regard_to_neighbouring_countries_that_are_less_studied._To_this_end,_the_researchers_will_jointly_examine_the_contexts,_cases_and_themes_of_India’s_regional_relations_in_a_world_faced_with_transitions_at_varying_levels_(thus_reconfiguring_existing_scales_of_the_national,_the_regional_and_the_global),_domains_(security,_economics_and_environment)_and_cases_(bilateral_relations_with_relatively_neglected_regional_neighbours_like_Afghanistan,_Nepal_and_Myanmar)._The_aim_is_to_provide_a_theoretically-informed_account_of_contemporary_India’s_regional_relations_with_strong_policy-relevant_recommendations. International_Collaborative_Project_on_Global_Norm_Evolution_and_Responsibility_to_Protect:_C._S._R._Murthy_and_others. Joining_the_United_States,_Europe_and_Russia_as_major_powers,_countries_like_Brazil,_China,_India_and_South_Africa_are_demanding_greater_influence_on_the_global_order._As_a_result,_global_norms_such_as_sovereignty_and_non-intervention_are    _evolving_in_an_increasingly_contested_way._The_debate_about_a_“responsibility_to_protect”_civilians_from_mass_atrocities_is_a_prime_example_of_this_dynamic._To_examine_this_process_of_norm_evolution,_researchers_at_seven_academic_institutions_in_Europe,_Brazil,_China_and_India_are_collaborating_in_a_two_and_a_half_year_project_called_Global_Norm_Evolution_and_the_Responsibility_to_Protect._By_focusing_on_“norm_evolution,”_we_highlight_the_potential_for_changes_in_norm_interpretation_over_time_as_well_as_the_convergence_and_divergence_between_alternative_interpretations_of_norms_supported_by_different_constituencies._In_contrast_to_the_simplistic_image_of_“the_West_against_the_Rest,”_we_observe_shifting_positions_and_coalitions_both_within_the_West_and_among_other_groups,_for_example_the_BRICS,_the_African_Union_and_IBSA_(India,_Brazil_and_South_Africa)._Their_different_views_and_changing_coalitions_produce_complex_patterns_of_state_practice_in_supporting,_opposing_or_ignoring_particular_interpretations_of_the_norm_(“normative_conflict”)._For_the_period_from_2005_to_2012,_the_project_asks_two_basic_research_questions:_How_and_why_did_the_interpretations,_attitudes_and_practices_of_major_powers_with_regard_to_a_responsibility_to_protect_change?_How_did_the_interaction_between_major_powers_(“normative_conflict”)_shape_the_evolution_of_the_global_norm? _The_research_consortium_includes_partners_from_Oxford_University,the_Peace_Research_Institute_Frankfurt_(PRIF),_Peking_University,_Fundação_Getulio_Vargas_in_Sao_Paolo_and_Rio_de_Janeiro,_Jawaharlal_Nehru_University_in_Delhi_and_Central_European_University_in_Budapest.
