p{ text-align:justify; line-height:_19px; } Godavari_Hostel_named_after_the_second_longest_river_in_Western_India,_is_one_of_the_oldest_hostels_in_the_journey_of_JNU._The_beautiful_red_brick-structure,_standing_testimony_to_years_of_perseverance_and_inspiration_is_a_home_to_around_348_with_both_single_and_double_occupancy._The_occupants_ranging_from_those_pursuing_bachelors_to_doctoral_degrees_have_given_a_legacy_of_successful_careers_and_modesty._The_strength_lies_in_the_harmonious_coexistence_of_girls_from_different_regions,_language_and_cultures_from_various_regions_of_India_and_from_all_parts_of_the_world.

 

The_four_wardens_living_in_each_corner_of_the_hostel_buildings_look_into_the_administrative_issues_of_hostel._Like_hands-on_guardians_they_cater_to_the_requirements_of_the_residents._The_mess_managers_along_with_a_team_of_cooks_and_helpers_provide_hygienic_and_nutritious_meals._The_cleanliness_of_the_hostel_is efficiently_upheld_by_the_sanitation_team_despite_the_challenges_of_infrastructure_being_an_old_hostel._The_office_staff_are_there_to_look_into_routine_matters_related_to_running_the_hostel_efficiently_and_with_punctuality._They_are_the_backbone_of_the_hostel_through_providing_all_requisite_support._It_is_a_matter_of_pride_that_Godavari_has_been_the_first_hostel_within_IHA_to_have_attained_100_percent_online_payments_of_mess_bills_since_October_2017.

 

The_democratic_ethos_of_JNU_is_replicated_within_Godavari_hostel_through_the_annual_hostel_elections_to_elect_a_President_along_with_six_hostel_committee_and_six_mess_committee_members._The_team_represents_students’_issues_at_hostel,_IHA_and_University_level._They_organise_the_hostel_night_which_is_a_fiesta_depicting_the_vibrant_cultural_ethos_and_has_won_accolades._It_is_a_much_awaited_function_as_it_showcases_the_exceptional_talents_of_Godavari_Girls._The_unique_feature_of_this_hostel_is_an_interactive_closed_online_google_group_‘godavarionline’_and_a_whatsapp_group_which_comprises_all_residents_and_wardens._This_is_a_platform_where_problems_are_flagged,_solutions_are_presented_and_ideas_are_exchanged.

 

Godavari’s_strategic_location_opposite the_State_Bank_of_India,_nearness_to_the_popular_‘Nilgiri_Dhaba’_which_is_famous_for banta, pakoras and chai over_rounds_of_intellectual_and_proximity_to_administrative_and_academic_buildings_have_made_it_the_most_centrally-located_hostel._This_hostel_is_home_to_differently-abled_students_because_of_accessibility_factor,_availability_of_lift_facility_and_sensitive_and_dedicated_hostel_staff.
