Merit-cum-Means_Scholarships:

A_number_of_Merit-cum-Means_scholarships_are_available_for_deserving_and_meritorious_students_whose_parent's/guardian's_income_does_not_exceed_Rs._2,50,000/-_per_annum_or_as_may_be_laid_down_from_time_to_time._The_payment_of_scholarships_will_be_governed_by_the_rules_in_force_in_the_University_from_time_to_time. Ford_Foundation_Scholarships: A_limited_number_of_Ford_Foundation_Scholarships_of_the_value_of_Rs._700/-_per_month_are_available_for_students_of_the_M.A._Programme_of_the_School_of_International_Studies._The_Scholarships_will_be_awarded_purely_on_merit_subject_to_the_proviso_that_at_least_half_of_them_will_go_to_female_students.

In_addition,_the_following_Endowments_(Scholarships)/_Fellowships/_Awards_are_also_available_to_students_pursuing_studies_in_the_University.

Prof._Ramesha_Rao_Scholarship_and_Travel_Grant:

A_sum_of_Rs.10,00,000/-_was_donated_by_Dr._(Mrs.)_K._Sudha_Rao,_wife_of_ Late_Prof._A._Ramesha_Rao_of_the_School_of_Life_Sciences_for_creation_of_an_endowment_for _ “A._Ramesha_Rao_Scholarship_and_Travel_Grant”_for_students_securing_the_highest_grade_in_the_Cancer_Biology,_a_discipline_in_which_Professor_Rao_had_specialized_and_guided_students._ The_award_is_for_a_period_of _10_months_@_Rs.3,000/-_per_month_ in_a_year_and_a_travel_grant_of_Rs.30,000/-_to_ an_M.Phil/Ph.D_student _for_presenting_paper_in_International_Conference,_Seminar,_etc._in_the_area_of_Cancer_Biology._ This_will_be_effective_from _next_year_2011_with_the_interest_accrued _ on_the_endowment.

Tendulkar_Scholarship

This_Scholarship_of_Rs.400/-_p.m._is_awarded_for_a_period_of_two_years_to_2_students_of_various_Centres_of_School_of_Social_Sciences_by_rotation.

Prof._Nurul_Hasan_Scholarship:

Two_Scholarships_of_Rs.1500/-_p.m._each_are_awarded_for_a_period_of_one_year_to_students_of_second_year_M.A./M.Sc./MCA_students_with_the_highest_CGPA_at_the_end_of_the_first_year,_one_of_which_shall_be_for_Social_Science_subjects_and_the_other_for_Science_subjects,_for_promotion_of_education_and_other_Ideals_and_values_for_which_Prof._Hasan_worked_during_his_lifetime.

Jawahar_Bhawan_Trust_Scholarship:

These_Scholarships_are_of_the_value_of_Rs.1000/-p.m._awarded_to_10_students_for_a_period_of_one_year_(covering_two_semesters)_and_may_be_renewed_for_subsequent_semester(s)_subject_to_the_condition_that_the_student_maintains_CGPA_of_5.5_at_the_end_of_third_semester_of_MA/M.Sc._and_fifth_semester_in_case_of_MCA.

Prof._MJK_Thavaraj_MCM_Scholarship:

There_are_2_Scholarships_of_worth_Rs.300/-_each_p.m._and_Rs.2000/-_as_contingency_are_awarded_on_merit_to_M.A._(Economics)_first_year_students_of_School_of_Social_Sciences.

D_S_Gardi_Sanskrit_Scholarship:

Annually_awarded_to_two_M.A._students_of_Sanskrit_Studies_for_a_period_of_two_years._These_scholarships_are_awarded_on_the_basis_of_performance_of_the_students_in_the_first_semester.

Prof._Gouri_Shankar_Singhal_Merit_Scholarship:

One_scholarship_to_M.Sc._(SLS)_2nd_year_student_value_of_Rs.1000/-_per_month_for_one_year_who_obtained_highest_CGPA_at_the_end_of_third_semester_to_be_selected_at_school_level_on_the_basis_firstly_of_merit_and_secondly_of_need.

There_is_also_a_provision_for_students_coming_from_weaker_sections_of_society_under_the_"Earn_as_you_Learn"_scheme.

Sungum_Sudhar_Fellowship: Two_scholarships_for_three_years_for_those_students_whom_PhD_status_is_confirmed_and_6.5_grade_in_Masters(MA_&_MPhil)_programme._Click_for_Sungum_Sudhar_Fellowship_2019-20

SYLFF_Fellowship:_ Ryoichi_Sasakawa_Young_Leaders_Fellowship_Programme_is_funded_by_Tokyo/Nippon_Foundation,_Japan.

Fox_International_Fellowship: Annually_awarded_to_one_or_two_students_of_M.Phil./Ph.D._programme_in_any_of_the_following_fields:_economics,_finance,_political_science,_international_relations,_law_and_contemporary_history._They_should_therefore_have_completed_3_semesters_of_M.Phil./Ph.D./Direct_Ph.D._programme_but_should_not_have_completed_more_than_6_semesters_of_the_said_programme.

UGC-CSIR_Junior_Research_Fellowship: Only_those_candidates_will_be_eligible_for_the_award_of_fellowships_who_qualify_in_the_national_level_test_conducted_by_the_University_Grants_Commission/CSIR_andother_similar_test_for_award_of_Junior_Research_Fellowship_as_per_the_norms_of_the_relevant_organization.

UGC-Scholarships_and_Fellowship:_ The_University_Grants_Commission_invites_applications_for_the_award_of_various_Scholarships_and_Fellowships_every_year_for_the_candidates_pursuing_higher_studies_in_Universities./Colleges._The_details_of_the_schemes_are_available_at_UGC_website_www.ugc.ac.in.

State_Government_Fellowship:_ Some_of_the_States_of_the_Indian_Union_have_instituted_at_the_School_of_International_Studies_one_or_two_fellowships_for_scholars_coming_from_their_respective_States._Some_State_Governments_have_also_provided_contingency_grants.

The_general_terms_and_conditions_governing_the_award_of_these_Governments_fellowships_are_given_below:

The_fellow_must_devote_his_whole_time_to_approved_courses_of_research_and_study_at_the_University.
He_shall_not_accept_or_hold_any_appointment_paid_or_otherwise_or_receive_any_emolument,_salary,_stipend,_etc._from_any_other_source_during_the_tenure_of_the_award._Junior_Research_Fellows_with_the_consent_of_the_Guide/Head_of_the_Department_may_assist_the_University/Institution_in_its_teaching_programmes,_if_called_upon_to_do_so,_including_tutorials,_evaluation_of_test_papers,_laboratory_demonstration_work,_seminar,_symposia,_etc._provided_that_such_work_undertaken_by_him/her_is_not_likely_to_hamper_his_own_research_programme_on_hand.
He_shall_obtain_prior_permission_of_the_University_for_appearing_at_any_examination_conducted_by_any_other_University_or_public_body.
The_fellowship_shall_be_terminated_at_any_time_if_the_progress_and_conduct_of_the_fellow_is_found_to_be_unsatisfactory.
The_fellowship_shall_ordinarily_be_tenable_for_a_period_of_one_year_in_the_first_instance_but_may_be_renewed_for_the_second,_third_and_fourth_years_if_the_student_continues_to_maintain_satisfactory_progress._However,_a_research_fellow_who_has_displayed_research_ability_but_not_completed_his_work_may_be_considered_for_extension_of_fellowship_for_a_further_period_of_one_year_at_the_end_of_four_years_period.

Okita_Memorial_Fellowship:_

There_are_two_Fellowships_each_of_the_value_of_Rs.5000/-_p.m._with_an_annual_contingency_grant_of_Rs.10,000/-_awarded_by_the_ICCR_on_the_recommendation_of_the_University_for_2_years._This_is_open_to_meritorious_Indian_students_in_JNU_who_are_registered_for_M.Phil/Ph.D._and_MA_2nd_year_programme_in_various_Centres_of_SIS/SLL&CS/SSS_pursuing_studies/research_in_any_of_the_areas_of_specialization_bearing_on_Japan_or_on_India's_Relations_with_Japan.

G._Parthasarathi_Endowment_Fellowship:_

There_are_four_Fellowships_including_the_one_in_Memory_of_Late_Chandrasekhar_Prasad_the_student_leader_in_JNU_of_Rs.1000/-p.m.,_each_awarded_to_students_initially_for_a_period_of_one_year,_renewable_by_another_year_on_the_basis_of_academic_performance,_to_students_coming_from_economically_weaker_sections_of_society,_particularly_Scheduled_Caste/Scheduled_Tribe/Backward_Class,_and_Physically_Challenged_(Handicapped)_students.

Australian_High_Commission_Fellowship:_

There_is_Scholarship_of_Rs._3500/-_per_month_plus_annual_contingency_grant_of_Rs.6000/-._The_Fellowship_is_awarded to_a_Ph.D._student_for_a_period_of_two_years_working_on_a_subject_concerning_Australian_Study_in_the_Centre_of_CSCSEA&WPS/SIS.

Special_Fellowships_for _SC/ST_and_PH_students:

Four_Fellowships_are_awarded_@_Rs.12000/-_p.m.(for_one_semester_or_two_semesters)_for_students_hailing_from_deprived_sections_of_society_i.e._Scheduled_Caste/_Scheduled_Tribe_and_Physically_Challenged_(Handicapped)_with_a_view_to_preparing_them_for_taking_up_teaching_and/or_research_as_career._These_fellowships_are_to_be_used_for_most_deserving_among_them_who_have_completed_two_years_of_Ph.D._or_after_having_completed_M.Phil._are_on_the_verge_of_completion_of_Ph.D.

Dr._Sheila_Zurbrigg_Fellowship:_

This_one_time_assistance_of_a_maximum_of_Rs._2000/-_is_awarded_to_one_deserving_student_of_the_Centre_of_Social_Medicine_and_Community_Health, _School_of_Social_Sciences.

Dr._Prafulla_K._Pani_Research_Fellowship:_

This_short-term_fellowship_of_Rs._8000/-_p.m._will_be_awarded_to_only_one_student_for_pursuing_research_at_Special_Centre_for_Molecular_Medicine_in_the_relevant_areas_of_molecular_medicine.

Posco_Fellowship:_

Awarded_cash_prize_in_Indian_Rupees_equivalent_to_US$500/-_(approximately)_to_10_under_graduate_meritorius_students_every_year_in_Korean_language_programme_of_the_CJKNEAS/SLLCS_on_the_basis_of_selection_at_Centre/School_level.

Nippon_Foundation_(Japan)_Fellowship:_

Two_Fellowships_are_awarded_every_year_out_of_the_endowment_of_US$_1_million_given_by_Nippon_Foundation._The_fellowship_holders_will_enjoy_this_prestigious_Fellowship_for_a_period_of_3_years_at_the_rate_of_Rs.15000/-_per_month._At_a_given_point_of_time_from_third_year_onwards,_six_students_of_M.Phil./Ph.D._programme_will_be_awarded_the_Fellowship.

Korean_Foundation_(Korea)_Fellowship:_

Two_Fellowships_of_Rs.10000/-_per_month_plus_Rs.20,000/-_contingency_for_the_first_two_years_and_senior_Fellowship_of_Rs.12,000/-_per_month_and_contingency_of_Rs.20,000/-_per_annum_for_the_subsequent_two_years_are_awarded_to_the_M.Phil./Ph.D._students.Two_Fellowship_of_Rs.2000/-_per_month_each_for_a_period_of_two_years_to_M.A._students_and_two_Scholarships_of_Rs.1000/-_per_month_each_for_a_period_of_two_years_are_awarded_to_Undergraduate_Students.

Com._H_L_Parwana_Research_Stipend:_

Com._H_L_Parwana_Research_stipend_of_Rs.5000/-_per_month_is_awarded_to_M.Phil._student_of_School_of_International_Studies_or_School_of_Social_Sciences_working_in_the_areas_of_Banking,_Trade_Union_and_Allied_Areas.

Swamy_Pranavananda_Memorial_Research_Fellowship:_

Awarded_annually_to_a_M.Phil._student_pursuing_studies_for_promotion_in_the_Indian_Philosophy,_Culture_and_Civilization.
