The_Centre_offers_two_separate_programs_at_the_MPhil/PhD_level.

 

Integrated_MPhil_Program_followed_by_the_PhD_Program The_course_work_for_the_MPhil_program_is_divided_into_six_broad_areas:

    Direct_PhD_program

    The_stipulated_minimum_qualifications_for_the_direct_PhD_program_have_been_specified_in_the_prospectus_of_the_University.

    The_University_Grants_Commission_selected_the_Centre_for_special_assistance_and_the_prestigious_Dr._Ambedkar_Chair_of_the_Ministry_of_Social_Justice_and_Empowerment,_Government_of_India_has_also_been_instituted_at_the_Centre._Currently,_the_Centre_has_been_granted_the_status_of_Centre_for_Advanced_Studies_by_the_University_Grants_Commission.

    The_Centre_awards_2_MPhil/PhD_Fellowships_under_the_Dr._Ambedkar_Chair_in_Sociology._Our_departmental_library_possesses_a_vast_collection_of_publications_on_the_core_thematic_concerns._We_have_also_developed_a_special_collaborative_program,_the_Global_Studies_Program,_with_the_Institute_for_Sociology,_Albert_Ludwigs_University,_Freiburg,_Germany,_and_Kwazulu_Natal_University,_Durban,_South_Africa

    Note:_All_MPhil_Courses_carry_4_credits_each._Students_are_required_to_take_2_compulsory_courses_and_2_optional_courses._They_are_also_required_to_write_a_dissertation_based_on_library_work_and_analysis_of_secondary_data._The_dissertation_carries_8_credits._According_to_the_MPhil_Ordinance_of_the_University,_the_students_must_complete_at_least_50_per_cent_of_the_course_work_(i.e.,_2_courses)_in_the_first_semester_itself._However,_those_students_who_secure_a_minimum_CGPA_of_A_Minus_(7.0_on_the_9_point_scale_of_evaluation)_in_the_course-work_can_opt_for_the_PhD_program_without_writing_the_MPhil_dissertation.
