Communication_&_Information_Services_(CIS),_JNU_organized_the_Digital_India_Week_programme_on_3rd-4th_July_2015_as_per_the_DO_letter_no._F75-9/2015(EGov)_issued_dated_25.06.2015_by_Secretary,_UGC_New_Delhi._The_objective_of_this_programme_is_to_disseminate_the_information_&_promotion_of_Digital_Strength,_ICT_initiatives_of_the_university_and_knowledge_sharing_of_digital_resources.
In_1996_JNU_initiated_efforts_for_setting_up_a_campus-wide_computer_network_in_the_academic_complexs_of_the_university._The_network_was_structured_in_a_manner,_keeping_in_view_of_options_for_future_expansion_to_connect_and_cover_the_entire_campus.

Wi-Fi The_network_links_22_buildings_and_some_teachers,_students,_and_support_staff_with_access_to_voice,_data,_multimedia,_and_videoconferencing_services_as_well_as_e-learning,_research,_and_business_applications._The_new_standard_for_next-generation_wireless_technology._Although_the_benefits_of_increased_coverage_and_faster_data_transfer_speeds_had_obvious_appeal,_the_university_needed_to_find_a_way_to_protect_its_existing_wireless_investment._This_investment_included_270_Cisco_access_points_and_associated_WLAN_controllers._The_mixed_campus_environment_also_presented_an_additional_challenge_in_helping_ensure_that_slower_802.11a/b/g_equipment_did_not_limit_the_performance_of_any_new_802.11n_devices_being_installed

Smart_Class E-classroom_is_one_such_initiative_taken_by_Government_of_India_where_use_of_Information_Technology_can_help_in_improving_the_quality_of_education_and_educational_professionals._This_will_in_turn_lead_to_improve_the_state_and_country.

e-classroom_uses_latest_Information_and_communication_technologies_and_facilitate,_enhance_and_improve_teaching_standard.

Reduced_cost_of_computers_and_internet_has_lead_to_establishment_of_e-classrooms_where_students_can_interact,_learn_and_share_learning_contents_on_a_real_time_basis_via_Internet._Students_will_be_present_in_a_virtual_classroom_environment_with_professor_and_fellow_learners_which_might_physically_be_very_far_away.

Video_Conferencing Video_Conferencing_is_available_for_the_users_in_various_network_environments_such_as_VPN,_Fire_Wall,_Private_IP._Specially,_the_single_port_technology_containing_HTTP_Tunneling_makes_video_conference_in_any_network_environment.

Video_Conferencing_facilities_are_provided_by_CIS_in_the_Hall_No._2_of_Lecture_Hall_Complex._The_facility_consists_of_a_Sony_PCS-1_video_conferencing_system_which_provides_the_latest_in_conferencing_technology_and_Sony_Bravia_line_of_high-performance_46"_LCD_TV_as_monitor_and_2_Mbps_bandwidth_connectivity_dedicated_for_the_purpose._This_Video_Conferencing_equipment_is_installed_in_a_studio-like_environment_with_sound_proofing_and_Air_Conditioning_facilities._This_videoconferencing_facility_of_JNU_can_be_utilised_by_all_the_Schools/Centres_by_sending_a_written_application_addressed_to_the_Director_(CIS)_mentioning_the_purpose,_date_and_time_(IST),_name_of_the_institution_and_the_IP_address_of_their_equipment._By_using_this_facility_a_few_Video_conferencing_sessions_have_already_been_arranged_with_some_institutions_such_as_CDAC_(Pune)_and_SBRI,_USA.

LMS/Edusat e-Learning_and_Content_Management_System_(eLCMS)_software,_usually_implemented_as_a_Web_application,_for_creating_and_managing_the_content._It_is_used_to_manage_and_control_a_large,_dynamic_collection_of_web_material_in_text,_images,_animation,_audio_and_video._It_facilitates_content_creation,_content_control,_editing,_and_many_essential_Web_maintenance_functions._Most_systems_use_a_database_to_store_content,_metadata,_and/or_artifacts_that_might_be_needed_by_the_system.

OBJECTIVES:

The_main_objectives_for_building_JNU_E-Learning_and_Content_Management_System_will_be:

to_share_common_working_documents _across_the_JNU_community; to_accumulate_content_in_a_single_platform; to_provide_open_access_to_institutional_research_output_by_self-archiving_it; to_have_access_to_all_the_important_video_lectures_delivered_by_visiting_scholars/JNU_scholars
