p { font-size:14px_!important; text-align:justify; line-height:_19px; margin-bottom:_10px_!important; } List_of_courses_being_offered_in_Winter_Semester_2025 Japanese_Language_was_introduced_in_the_Centre_of_Afro-Asian_Languages_(CAAL)_in_School_of_Language,_Literature_and_Culture_Studies_in_1973_as_a_one_year_certificate_course,_which_was_upgraded_into_full-time_five_year_integrated_programme_leading_to_M.A._degree_in_the_next_year. _During_the_Cold_War_period_there_was_not_much_interaction_between_India_and_Japan,_be_it_in_the_realm_of_bilateral_economic_cooperation,_trade_or_commerce_or_in_the_field_of_technology_transfer,_industrial_cooperation_and_collaboration. _But_by_the_beginning_of_1980's_with_a_sudden_improvement_in_Indo-Japanese_relations,_especially_in_the_field_of_bilateral_trade_and_technology_transfer_a_spurt_in_the_demand_for_Japanese_Language_experts_was_created_and_it_has_been_gradually_rising._In_2012,_the_two_countries_celebrated_the_60th Anniversary_of_Diplomatic_relations_between_India_&_Japan_and_have_entered_ a_new_phase_of_strengthening_the_strategic_and_global_partnership._It_ will_give_a_further_spur_to_the_demand_for _Japanese_Language_experts_as_well_as_researchers_and_scholars_of_Japanese_Literature,_Culture,_Society,_Religion_etc._These_are_the_areas_in_which_the_centre_has_made_a_ niche_in_national_as_well_as_international_circles._The_centre_also_offers_M.Phil/P.hD_programme._The_M.Phil/P.hD_was_introduced_in_the_Centre_in_2006_replacing_the_existing_Pre-P.hD_/P.hD . The_initial_centre_of_CAAL_was_bifurcated_in_the_mid_1980s_and_the_Centre_of_East_Asian_Languages_(CEAL)_consisting_of_Chinese,_Japanese_and_Korean,_came_into_existence. _However,_CEAL_was_further_bifurcated_and_the_Centre_for_Japanese_and_North_East_Asian_Studies_(CJNEAS)_came_into_existence,_with_Japanese,_Korean_and_Mongolian_Languages_in_1995._Furthermore,_CJKNEAS_was_again_bifurcated_into_two_independent_Centres,_i.e.,_Centre_for_Japanese_Studies_(CJS)_and_Centre_for_Korean_Studies_(CKS)_in_Executive_Council_meeting_held_on_10.5.2013. _The_CJS_has_about_200_students.
