We_all_know_that_humans_are_not_going_to_sustain_on_this_earth_without_other_animals._Still_we_don’t_want_to_realize_the_importance_of_wildlife._For_us_their_extinction_is_just_a_decrease_in_number,_but_the_reality_is_very_ugly._As_their_number_species_decreases,_so_our_time_on_this_earth_is_also_proceeding_toward_same_side._Keeping_this_in_mind_we_thought_of_spending_some_time_thinking_about_them_and_celebrated_world_wildlife_week._May_be,_we_realize_our_mistake_of_not_bothering_about_them._The_event_went_on_for_three_days._The_first_week_of_October_celebrated_as_Wildlife_week._We_had_a_quiz_competition_with_students_participating_happily_in_that._And_then_there_was_a_small_talk_from_Dr._Suryaprakash_from_School_of_Life_Sciences,_about_the_butterfly_species_in_JNU_and_how_they_form_an_important_part_of_our_lives._A_very_ground_level_initiative_has_been_taken_on_this_occasion_to_solve_the_drinking_water_problem_for_animal_in_dry_season._Various_water_pots_had_been_placed_throughout_the_campus._There_were_also_other_events_like_painting_and_photography_along_with_movie_screening_on_environmental_issues._Overall,_an_awareness_campaign_had_driven_for_animal_welfare_on_this_Wildlife_Week.

We_all_need_to_understand_that_whatever_resources_mother_earth_is_providing_us_today,_they_are_not_inherited_by_us_from_our_predecessors,_they_are_the_property_of_our_future_generations,_and_not_only_ours,_but_each_and_every_living_beings_on_this_earth._But_for_the_human_race,_we_uses_them_without_any_care_for_mother_earth._Why_earth_to_be_called_as_MOTHER?_Because_it_feeds_us_from_the_very_beginning_like_a_mother,_takes_care_of_your_and_our_needs,_helps_us_by_providing_resources_in_our_tight_days._Is_not_it_what_a_mom_does,_all_her_life?
So,_as_a_matter_of_fact,_now_don’t_we_owe_some_regards_towards_our_mother_earth?_For_that_we_the_students_of_School_of_Environmental_Sciences_celebrated_Earth_Day_on_22_April_2016,_with_Jairam_Ramesh,_Former_Environment_Minister,_Govt._of_India_and_many_other_environmentalists_with_the_theme_"CARING_MOTHER_EARTH"._This_programme_was_a_wakeup_call_for_all_those_who_takes_the_services_provided_by_nature_for_granted.
The_programme_included_many_events_taking_place_all_over_the_week_from_16_April_to_22_April.
Diya_Deepawali
Amidst_the_darkness,_a_single_ray_of_light_gives_you_immense_hope_and_happiness._That’s_exactly_what_happens_when_we_celebrate_Diwali,_lights_and_lights_all_around_spreading_happiness._It_started_like_this,_but_with_time,_crackers_came_into_the_picture,_making_the_picture_dark_instead_of_brightening_it_up_by_the_smoke_they_produce._This_darkness_not_only_blocks_the_light_but_also_is_harmful_for_us_as_the_smoke_from_crackers_is_also_contributing_in_air_pollution._So,_we_the_Students_of_Environmental_Sciences_thought_of_something_environmental_friendly_for_the_day_of_Diwali_and_changed_it_into_Deepawali_i.e;_Deep+_Awali_(lines)._Celebration_started_on_9th_November_and_lasted_till_11_November.
For_our_surprise_many_people_participated_in_this_initiative_making_it_as_a_success._The_ideas_depicted_in_paintings_were_really_very_good_and_creative._Many_students,_professors_happily_gave_their_views_about_the_idea_and_supported_and_motivated_us_for_further_events.
Our_only_motto_of_celebrating_Diwali_in_such_a_way_was_to_make_people_aware_about_the_pain_environment_is_facing_due_to_our_excessive_use_of_crackers._These_crackers_not_only_pollute_our_air_but_also_produce_enormous_noise_that_frighten_the_wild_animals_even_some_children_and_old_people._Diwali_is_a_festival_of_happiness,_so_why_not_spread_happiness_and_not_fear_or_hatred.
