Special_Centre_for_Nanoscience_(SCNS)_is_a_newly_created_inter-disciplinary_research_and_teaching_centre_at_JNU._The_nanoscience_related_research_topics_pursued_currently_include_ferromagnetic_nanostructures,_magnetic_nanocomposites;_microwave_absorbers;_nano-devices;_magnetic_nanoparticles_based_target-specific_drug-delivery_&_treatment_of_cancer_cells_by_radio-frequency-(RF)_Hyperthermia;_Giant-Magneto-Resistance_bio-sensors;_nano-biotechnology,_bio-sensors,_hybrid_nanomaterials,_anti-bio_films,_Electron_microscopy,_ferroelectric/_multiferroic_nanocomposites,_soft_condensed_matter,_nanoscale_interface,_etc

The_Centre_has_faculty_members_with_background_in_Physics,_Electronics,_Biology,_Materials_Science,_and_Electron_Microscopy.

Presently,_SCNS_common_instrumentation_facility_(CIF)_has_nanomaterial_synthesis_and_nano-bio_synthesis_labs_consisting_of_all_basic_characterization_facilities_including_UV-vis, _Raman_spectrophotometer, _BOD_incubator,_Laminar_Hood,_Dynamic_Light_Scattering,_Zeta_Potential_Measurement,_UV-NIR_Spectrophotometer,_Viscometry,_Tensiometry,_Potentiostat-Galvanostat,_Cell_culture_facility,_Fluorescence_Spectrophotometer,_Contact_Angle_Measurement,_Elisa_Reader,_etc.

The_Nano-electronics_and_microwave_laboratory_consists_of_DC_and_microwave_probe-stations,_microwave_nano-devices_testing_facilities_like;_Vector_Network_Analyzer_(Keysight_Inc._PNA_-_44_GHz),_Spectrum_Analyzer_(Rohde_and_Schwarz_Inc._-_40_GHz),_Microwave_Power_Amplifier_(Marki_microwave)_for_absorbance_testing,_angle_and_temperature_dependent_variable-frequency_Ferromagnetic_Resonance_(FMR)_system._For_nanostructure_deposition_we_have_multi-target_RF_Sputtering_and_thermal_evaporation_system._750mJ_Pulsed_EXCIMER_Laser_based_PLD_ultra-high_vacuum_deposition_system_is_under_procurement_process._We_have_photolithography_and_dry_etching_facilities_for_device_fabrication._For_in-vivo_and_in-vitro_study,_we_have_automated_Radio-Frequency_Hyperthermia_system_(MSI_AUTOMATION,_INC.)_on_mouse_model_and_human_cell-lines.

The_Ferroelectrics_and_Multiferroics_Characterization_laboratory_consists_of_Impedance_Analyzer_(20_-_120_MHz,_Keysight_Technologies),_Sawyer_Tower_Ferroelectric/Multiferroic_Hysteresis_Loop_Measurement_Setup;_Liquid_Nitrogen_Cryostat_(77_–_800_K)_etc.

Nanobio_lab_consists_of_human_cell_culture_and_storage_facility_(-20^oC)._We_also_have_Fluorescence_Microscope_to_monitor_nanotoxicity_and_nano_bio-interface._We_have_Multichannel_Electrochemical_analyzer_to_get_electrochemical_response_of_multianalytes_on_a_single_electrode._Beside_this,_we_have_Electro-spinning_setup_for_synthesis_of_nano-fibres_for_biomedical_application.

Thin-film_laboratory_has_a_RF-DC_magnetron_sputtering_system._Presently_thin-films_and_bulk_materials_of_functional_oxides_are_being_synthesized_using_mixed_oxide_and_wet_chemistry_methods._Lead-free_ferroelectrics_and_antibiofilms_are_currently_being_investigated._TEM_investigations_are_an_integral_part_of_the_research_which_will_be_carried_out_at_AIRF_of_the_university._Ion_milling_machine_for_preparing_TEM_samples_is_being_installed_at_AIRF.

A_wide_range_of_analytical_facilities_including_XRD,_Transmission_Electron_Microscopy,_Scanning_Electron_Microscopy,_PPMS,_Confocal_Microscope,_and_other_on-line_cell_imaging_facilities_are_available_at_the_Advanced_Instrumentation_and_Research_Facility_(AIRF),_which_is_a_central_facility_of_the_JNU.
