The_Centre_for_Korean_Studies (CKS)_is_a_unit_of_School_of_Language,_Literature_and_Culture_Studies_(SLL&CS)_at_JNU. The_Centre_is one of_the_biggest_academic_centres_of_Korean_Language,_Literature_and_Culture_Studies_in_Indian_Subcontinent. It_offers_B.A.,_M.A.,_M.Phil_and Ph.D._programmes_in_Korean_Language,_Literature_and_Culture_Studies._Korean_Language_was first_introduced_in_the_Centre_in_1976_as_a Pre-Degree_Diploma course._It_was_upgraded_into a_full-time_B.A.(Hons) programme_in_1995_and_M.A._in_1998. The_nomenclature_of_the_Centre was_changed from_'Centre_for_Japanese,_and_North East_Asian_Studies'_(CJNEAS) to 'Centre_for Japanese,_Korean_and_North_East_Asian Studies' (CJKNEAS)_in_2005.The_Centre started_its_M.Phil/Ph.D_Programme_in_July_2013. It_became_an_independent_centre_"Centre_for Korean_Studies_(CKS)"_in August,_2013. Over_the_yearsit has_grown_into_one_of_the_largest_Centres_of the SLL&CS_in_JNU. The_Centre_also offers_a_part-time certificate_and diploma_courses in_Mongolian_Language.
